Elisha reluctantly advised kings Ahab and Jehoshaphat (2 Kings 3) as they battled the king of Moab. His advice was to make the valley full of ditches, as there would be water in them soon. The next day, water flowed from the direction of Edom and the land was filled with water. The Moabites, thinking the water was blood as it gleamed in the sun, recklessly advanced only to be conquered by the Israelites.
